And on your way home from school something catastrophic breaks in the transmission that is no longer under warranty.

That has always been my mark in the past. about to hit 100? QUICK GET RID OF IT!

Keeping this one though. The 07 Milan is at 76k. I'll be running it as close to 200k as I can.

We'll see if it pays off or not...

Literally happened to a friend of mine with their Toyota sienna. Transmission blew up and the car came to a stop at 99,999.9 miles. They took photographs. It rolled over to 100,000.0 getting pulled onto the flatbed truck. Toyota didn't honor the warranty.

Eventually, when I can comfortably afford it, I'll buy a new car. Preferably one that is fast, luxurious, and can seat 5. We just bought a new house this year, and our payments are extremely high due to a miscalculated escrow for taxes, but that'll adjust on January 1. No rush to jump into a new whip, though.

my 2001 Jeep Cherokee made it to a little over 110,000 before i totaled it. thing is it was still perfectly good besides a saggy headliner and a couple dents. Modern cars are good for at LEAST 150,000 miles these days. (except off-lease german luxury cars) :)

There are a couple of small things here and there that need to be fixed (dings, etc), but otherwise it's a champ.

I am, however, trying to decide if I want to put a cat back exhaust system and a new air filtration system on it as a last hoorah before I trade it in. Make it as close to a Bro Truck as I can without actually venturing into DB territory.

I usually buy my cars with around 100K on them. You can pretty much bet that any major consumable (brakes, tires etc) has been replaced and any major bugs have been worked out under warranty. Any neglected service items are usually salvageable (transmission fluid changes, etc) Plus the cost is about 1/3 of when it was new! So thanks for selling!

I hear you on the tax issue my house payment has changed almost $200 due to the taxes shrinking thanks to it becoming homestead, was previously a rental property so we had to wait out a year for the taxes to change over. At least we got a nice escrow refund check back.

Fast, Luxurious, seats for 5.......sounds like a caddy to me!

Yeah, we'll be getting back about $4,000 from this year's overage. Payment will go down next year as well.

CTS-Vsport would be a dream come true.

I'm debating whether I'll be looking at an ATS or a CTS in hopefully 7-8 years when my car has almost 200k miles on it.

That's bullshit. Do you know the excuse?

Yeah. Out of Warranty because the mileage was over the warrantied mileage when they inspected it. Pictures of the odometer do not count because they could've been taken at any time.

What bothers me more, though, is that they then proceeded to buy a new Camry from the same Dealership since their Sienna was totaled.

Just crossed 100,000 last weekend in heading back to college... for an '01 tahoe thats pretty good I'd say. I plan on trying to get as much out of her as possible. Hopefully that means 250,000+

Keep the fluids fresh, the engine tuned, and the problems nipped. It'll get you there.

I've experienced first hand what happens when the fluids are not done properly. Dad has a '02 Silverado with close to 160,000 and just had to get a new engine because that was not done properly.
